Larimer County’s First Group Campground Opens Next Week

Larimer County (Colorado) is opening its first group campsite at Carter Lake next week to fill the need for more space for larger groups who want to go camping together, county officials said.

According to a report, Sky View Campground, located on the east side of Carter Lake southwest of Loveland, opens on May 20 and has 15 campsites spread across three pods of five campsites each.

According to Korrie Johnston, community relations and public information supervisor for Larimer County Natural Resources Department, each pod can accommodate larger groups and host events like family reunions, larger gatherings, or RV trips.

Amenities include a communal fire pit in each pod, a large pavilion for picnics and meetings, and vault restrooms.

The $1.9 million project underwent extensive construction from May to October last year. The final touches, like electrifying the pavilion, were being wrapped up during a showcase of the new area Wednesday afternoon.

Johnston said that campground reservations, launched in January, have already started to fill quickly. Weekends throughout the summer are fully booked, but she noted weekday slots are available.
