Junction West Vallecito Resort announced the introduction of the Wood Carvings Tour, part of a broader initiative managed by the IVEE Group. Located in the Rocky Mountains of southwest Colorado, the resort serves as one of 14 stops on a tour dedicated to honoring those who fought the historic Missionary Ridge wildfire in 2002.
The tour begins at Junction West Vallecito Resort with a sculpture of a fireman holding a shovel, representing the teamwork of fire departments from the Four Corners region. These detailed carvings, made from fire-damaged tree trunks, surround Vallecito Lake, serving as “a focal point of gratitude and remembrance.”
Ann Lavery, the regional manager overseeing Junction West Vallecito Resort, expressed honor in being part of the tour, noting that the sculpture at the resort stands as a “testament to the bravery and dedication of the firefighters who worked tirelessly to protect the community during the Missionary Ridge wildfire.”
Tom Mason, COO of IVEE Group, underscored similar sentiments, highlighting the dual purpose of the tour. “This tour not only showcases the resilience of the natural environment but also the strength of the community that came together during a challenging time. We invite guests to experience these unique works of art and reflect on the sacrifices made by our local heroes.”
Visitors to Junction West Vallecito Resort can enjoy the sculpture as part of their stay. The resort offers temperate summers, and a variety of leisure activities, making it a destination for relaxation and reflection.
