Dunton River Camp in Colorado is adjusting its operational model for the 2025 season, introducing an adults-only experience while maintaining select dates for family-friendly stays.
The shift aims to enhance the guest experience by providing a tranquil setting for adult travelers while continuing to accommodate families during designated periods.
The camp, located along the West Fork of the Dolores River, is positioning itself as a luxury retreat that caters to two distinct demographics, according to a report by Luxury Travel Magazine.
From June through October, the property will primarily serve adult guests seeking a peaceful, nature-immersive escape.
“The transition of Dunton River Camp to an adults-only retreat reflects our dedication to offering unmatched tranquility, luxury, and hospitality in the heart of the Colorado mountains,” said Eduardo Rossi of Dunton.
The camp will host families only during specific windows: June 29 to July 6 and August 3 to August 17.
This operational adjustment aligns with a broader trend in the outdoor hospitality industry, where properties are fine-tuning their offerings to attract targeted customer segments.
Adults-only stays have gained traction in the luxury camping market, appealing to travelers looking for high-end, secluded experiences.
For business owners in the industry, Dunton’s strategy illustrates the potential benefits of flexible programming—catering to both high-spending adult guests and families while maintaining brand exclusivity.
During its adults-only periods, Dunton River Camp will provide elevated experiences, including private riverside dining, guided mindfulness activities, and curated group events such as fly-fishing workshops and wine tastings.
By contrast, family-friendly dates will introduce child-focused outdoor programs, storytelling sessions, and discounts on multi-tent bookings to encourage group stays.
For outdoor hospitality operators considering similar shifts, Dunton’s model highlights an opportunity to diversify revenue streams while maintaining a high-end brand image.
By designating specific times for different guest profiles, properties can maximize occupancy without compromising the experience of any particular audience.
Nightly rates at Dunton River Camp start at $2,200 per tent, including meals, beverages, and select amenities. The camp remains open from June through October, with the option for full buyouts accommodating up to 16 guests.
