Camping Fees at Dinosaur National Monument Set to Increase in 2025

Dinosaur National Monument will implement increased camping fees starting January 1, 2025, to support critical maintenance and enhancement projects within the park. This marks the first fee adjustment since 2016 and aims to improve visitor facilities and services.

Visitors holding Senior and Access Passes will continue to benefit from a 50% discount at Green River, Echo Park, Deerlodge Park, Gates of Lodore, and Rainbow Park campgrounds. However, group campsites at Echo Park and Split Mountain are excluded from these discounts.

According to Dinosaur Superintendent Phil Akers, the decision followed careful deliberation and public feedback. “This modest increase in fees will allow us to continue to protect, preserve, and share the special places here at Dinosaur with current visitors and future generations,” Akers stated in a press release

“After soliciting input from the public and carefully considering the impact of a camping fee increases on visitors and community members, we came to the conclusion that this is the right course of action to improve facilities and services important to visitors,” Akers explained.

Campgrounds at Dinosaur National Monument

Dinosaur National Monument offers visitors the chance to experience the outdoors with six campgrounds and over 120 campsites. Located on both the Utah and Colorado sides of the monument, the campgrounds provide a variety of options for camping enthusiasts.

Three campgrounds, including Green River, are situated in Utah, with Green River being the closest to the Dinosaur Quarry. The remaining three campgrounds, such as Deerlodge Park, are located in Colorado, offering diverse landscapes and unique camping experiences.

Nestled along the Green River, Echo Park Campground showcases a setting within the monument. The campground serves as a gateway to hiking trails that lead to the confluence of the Green and Yampa Rivers or scenic views of the Mitten Park Fault.

Split Mountain Group Campground also sits along the Green River near Split Mountain, just five miles from the Dinosaur Quarry. It offers easy access to the Split Mountain Boat Ramp, a popular spot for rafters and boaters. While primarily a group site, the campground opens to all campers during the off-season when Green River Campground is closed.

On the Colorado side, Deerlodge Park Campground is located at the head of Yampa Canyon. This year-round campground features seven shaded tent sites with basic amenities like seasonal drinking water and vault toilets.
