In a release, Kampgrounds of America (KOA) announced the former Lake Tahoe KOA’s return to the KOA Family of Campgrounds.
The campground, known for its scenic beauty and range of outdoor activities, is located just four miles from the southern shore of Lake Tahoe.
Surrounded by towering pine trees and intersected by the tranquil Echo Creek, Lake Tahoe KOA is a hub for various recreational activities.
The campground offers guests a plethora of activities including boating, swimming, hiking, and horseback riding.
Visitors can also partake in more adventurous pursuits like hot-air ballooning, biking, kayaking, jet-skiing, and parasailing. The nearby Truckee River and surrounding lakes offer ample opportunities for fishing.
In addition to outdoor recreation, the campgrounds are in close proximity to local casinos and dining establishments, adding an element of entertainment and gastronomic exploration to the camping experience.
In a move to enhance guest experiences, the owners of Lake Tahoe KOA have initiated a comprehensive upgrade to the property.
The renovation project includes improvements to the main check-in store, accommodation sites, cabins, dog park, playground, and bathrooms.
One of the highlight features of this renovation is the introduction of a food truck that will provide guests with a variety of food and beverage options, including beer, wine, and local ice cream.
Lake Tahoe KOA provides full-hookup RV sites, tent sites, deluxe cabins, and a unique chalet to cater to various guest preferences. The campground, which is located at 760 US Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe, California, operates from May 1 to October 31.
As summer approaches, Lake Tahoe KOA looks forward to welcoming guests to experience the upgraded facilities and enjoy a memorable stay amidst the natural beauty of Lake Tahoe.
In a recent Facebook post, owners Layla and Emery revealed their plans to bring the South Lake Tahoe campground back to life for the 2023 season.
Introduced along with their two children, Killian and Bonnie, the family expressed their excitement at meeting and interacting with campground visitors in the upcoming months. “We are thrilled to meet you!” they shared on the social media platform.
The family, originally from the East Coast, is no stranger to the great outdoors. Passionate about hiking and camping, they have spent the last four years diligently renovating vintage Airstreams. Their latest project concluded just in time for them to seize the opportunity to relocate and resurrect the South Lake Tahoe campground, which has been a beloved local feature for the past 40 years.
Having packed up their life and journeyed across the country, they are now working tirelessly to prepare for the reopening.
With a shared love for outdoor adventure and community spirit, they are looking forward to the chance to make lasting memories on the refurbished site.
