The Stivers family is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to the whereabouts of John Stivers (52), an owner of a campground in California.
According to a report, Stivers’ family spent the week searching for the campground owner who had disappeared while running errands. Since then, they have been pleading with him for his safe return.
Michele, his wife, said that John is “one of the kindest and most loving people in this world.” “No matter how busy he may be, he will always help someone else.”
The father of a 14-year old daughter was last seen at their Copperopolis, California home on August 2, 2021. Michele stated that she had prepared lunch for everyone as they discussed their plans for the day. Michele also said that her husband was responsible for planning their camping trip.
The couple owns Lake Tulloch Campground in Jamestown, California and Marina. John shared with Michele that he planned to visit Sonora Bank, California, and then go to the campground to finish his lunch before heading home for the evening.
Michele stated that John called her around 2 p.m. on the day she was there to inform her about a golf cart left at the clubhouse.
He also said he would bring the RV home that evening for their Tahoe camping trip. She hasn’t heard from John since.
Michele became concerned when John did not return home that night. According to the report, John made it to the bank to deposit the money, but his wife discovered that he had not returned to work. She called the campground and spoke with employees to confirm this.
Michele stated that she had texted and called him numerous times by 9:30 p.m., but the phone remained disconnected. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office was then called and she reported him missing.
That same evening, sheriff’s deputies located John’s 2013 white Chevrolet Express 15-passenger van parked alongside Campo Seco Road in Jamestown, according to a release issued by the sheriff’s office the next day, but John was not with the vehicle. John may have used the same road to reach the campground as he did to get there from Sonora bank, the report said.
Numerous searches were conducted in the area by both law enforcement officers and volunteers since John disappeared. A Facebook group “Find John Stivers” was created to track the searches and provide updates. Within a week, the page had nearly 2,000 members.
Michele said that her husband would not leave his family, campground, or van.
Information leading to John’s location is eligible for a $10,000 reward from the Stivers family.
John is 6’2″, weighing in at 215 lbs. He is described as having salt and pepper hair, and hazel eyes. He was wearing a bucket-hat with wide brim at the time of his disappearance.
Anyone with information on John’s whereabouts is asked to call the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office 209-694-2900 or email tips to [email protected].
