Talladega Pit Stop RV Park in Lincoln, Alabama, celebrated an expansion on August 1 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for 27 new tiny homes. The event was organized by Kim Boyd, director of membership and investor relations for the Calhoun County Area Chamber & Visitors Center.
Boyd welcomed attendees, including chamber members, to the ceremony. The event took place at the campground’s location at 4889 Speedway Boulevard, just off I-20 in Lincoln. Additionally, park owners Michael and Janine Franklin expressed enthusiasm about the improvements made to the previously undeveloped area.
The park offers 121 sites for campers. Services provided include parking assistance, ice for drinks, and firewood during cooler months. According to its website, Talladega Pit Stop RV Park also features a range of accommodations, including Class A, B, and C RV sites, furnished rustic cabins, tiny homes, and primitive tent sites, ensuring an ideal stay for both camping and glamping enthusiasts near the NASCAR races.
Other amenities include full sewer and bathhouse facilities, a camp general store, a coin laundry facility. Guests can also enjoy a wide variety of activities available, including campground games such as pickleball, tetherball, horseshoes, cornhole, and a bounce house, as well as opportunities to explore trails on ATVs.
In addition to its amenities, the campground hosts various events. Last weekend, the venue hosted the second annual Talladega Bluegrass & Fingerstyle Guitar Festival.
“We want to thank Calhoun County, Talladega, and Lincoln. We hope they keep telling people to come here,” Michael said, as reported by St. Clair Times on August 5.
Following the ribbon-cutting, bluegrass singers performed as fans with lawn chairs joined early arrivals in the shade. With afternoon temperatures rising into the 90s, many held iced drinks from food trucks to stay cool.
Special guest Lee Greenwood, a legendary country music singer, was among the first performers. At 81, Greenwood, known for patriotic songs like “God Bless the USA,” has been a figure in country music since 1962. He has released 20 major-label albums and 35 singles that have charted.
