Baldwin County, Alabama’s Wales West Light Railway & RV Resort is gearing up for its annual Pumpkin Patch Express. The event, running weekends from Oct. 4 through Oct. 30, promises spooky fun at Wales West.
The event’s centerpiece is the authentic steam locomotive, “Dame Ann,” which transports guests to the Pumpkin Patch. The Pumpkin Patch Express also offers varied train schedules to accommodate different age groups. Families with younger children can also enjoy non-scary train rides.
As darkness falls, the Scary Night Train commences at 7:00 p.m., providing a more thrilling experience for those seeking a scare.
According to an article published by Gulf Coast Media, each visitor receives a complimentary pumpkin to take home. The admission includes access to mini train rides and a “hay-less” hayride. For the adventurous, an optional spooky maze is available.
The event operates every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. throughout October, with daily operation from Oct. 27 to Oct. 30. Tickets are priced at $25 per person plus tax, with children two and under admitted free. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance online.
According to its website, the park is a popular destination for RV travelers seeking mild winters and a central location to explore the Gulf Coast. Its name and inspiration come from the narrow gauge railways connecting remote areas in Wales, Great Britain.
These “light railways” feature smaller locomotives and cars that operate on a “narrow gauge,” with a track distance of just two feet, compared to the standard 4 feet 8½ inches of typical railroads.
Throughout the year, Wales West also hosts various special events.
