The Municipality of Necochea has taken a formal step toward redeveloping Camping Las Grutas with a proposed glamping-focused tourist complex, following the opening of bids for the concession of the site’s Right of Use and Exploitation.
The bid opening took place at the “Dr. Domingo Taraborelli” Hall of Acts, marking the beginning of an evaluation process that will determine whether submitted proposals meet the required formal criteria before advancing to potential review by the Deliberative Council.
The project outlines a 20-year concession period, a timeframe intended to support long-term investment and operational continuity. If approved, the development would introduce a structured glamping offering to the area, combining temporary accommodations with permanent supporting infrastructure.
The plan calls for the installation of 12 habitable units, divided evenly between standard and higher-tier options, with some units including features such as jacuzzis. Additional units are also envisioned for events, allowing the site to expand capacity during peak demand periods without significantly altering its environmental footprint.
According to project details, the structures will use materials designed for durability and thermal insulation, with the aim of maintaining guest comfort while minimizing environmental disruption. Internal pathways are planned with natural layouts and white stone finishes, and the site will include a caretaker’s residence to support ongoing maintenance and oversight.
Shared-use facilities form a key component of the proposal. Plans include a multipurpose dome with capacity for up to 100 people, which could support group activities, events, or community programming.
A biopool utilizing plant-based filtration instead of chemicals is also proposed, alongside a wellness dome designed for spa services, yoga, and meditation, according to Noticias Ambientales. A second dome would accommodate additional events, indicating a potential focus on group bookings and experiential offerings.
The development is expected to unfold over a three-year construction timeline, beginning with core infrastructure and followed by phased expansions. However, progression remains contingent on administrative approvals, with the Deliberative Council’s review representing a critical step in determining whether the project proceeds.
For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, the Necochea initiative reflects a broader shift toward hybrid accommodation models that integrate experiential travel, sustainability features, and event-driven revenue streams.
The inclusion of wellness infrastructure, flexible event spaces, and environmentally positioned amenities suggests a diversification strategy that extends beyond traditional overnight stays.
Operators evaluating similar investments may note the emphasis on phased development, which can help manage capital exposure while allowing demand to guide expansion. At the same time, the reliance on public concession agreements highlights the importance of navigating regulatory processes and aligning proposals with municipal development goals.
If approved and completed, the project aims to position Necochea within the growing segment of destinations offering low-impact, experience-oriented lodging, where glamping continues to serve as a bridge between outdoor recreation and higher-comfort accommodations.
