If you’re planning on camping or RVing in Texas over spring break, you’d better make your reservations now, according to the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO).

“Demand for campsites in Texas has never been stronger, especially given the record RV sales we’ve seen in recent years,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director and CEO of the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO), which hosts TexasCampgrounds.com, the travel planning website.

TexasCampgrounds.com provides descriptions, photos, and links to more than 400 campgrounds, RV parks, and resorts across the Lone Star State, many of which have park model RVs, cabins, and other rental accommodations.

“As popular as RVing has become, campground owners tell us their cabins often sell out even faster than their RV sites, especially on holiday weekends. So, it behooves everyone planning a spring break camping trip to book their reservations as soon as possible,” Schaeffer said.

The following campgrounds and RV parks highlight the wide range of parks that are available for Spring Break enthusiasts and other travelers through TexasCampgrounds.com:

Alamo Fiesta RV Resort in Boerne: Located in the German heritage town of Boerne, this 220-site, pet-friendly park includes mostly pull-through RV sites and rental cabins. The park can be used as a convenient base camp for trips into San Antonio as well as the Texas Hill Country. Amenities include a playground, exercise equipment and a park store.

Loyd Park in Grand Prairie: Loyd Park is a 791-acre recreation area located in the middle of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex on the west shore of Joe Pool Lake, featuring 221 campsites, several lakefront cabins, multiple yurts, and an 18-room lodge. Built on a site with large, majestic oak trees just a few steps from Joe Pool Lake is the Loyd Park Lodge, which features a fully furnished kitchen, a covered porch with rocking chairs, a barbecue grill, a fire pit and big screen TVs and Wi-Fi.

Oak Forest RV Park in Austin: This Roberts Resorts Park is in a forested setting 10 minutes from downtown Austin. Amenities include a swimming pool, a pavilion, a bocce ball area and a dog park. Just a mile up the road from the park is the Travis County Exposition Center, which hosts Texas rodeos, horse shows, car shows and bike rallies, among other events. Golf enthusiasts can play at nearby Bluebonnet Hill Golf Course or Morris Williams Golf Course, while bass fishing is available at Walter Long Lake.

Pioneer River RV Resort in Bandera: This park features RV sites as well as an authentic caboose rental with a queen-size bed, bathroom and shower, a flat screen TV and a kitchen with a small fridge and cooking equipment. RV rentals are also available. Park amenities include a swimming pool and hot tub, a playground, and a horse annex for horse campers.

Rayford Crossing RV Resort in Spring: Guests often use Rayford Crossing as a base camp for sightseeing in the Houston area or for attending local festivals and sporting events. Concerts in the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, one of the world’s top rated outdoor amphitheaters, are another big draw. Amenities include a beautiful resort-style swimming pool, hiking, and biking trails as well as an exercise room and luxurious bathroom facilities with granite and stone showers. The park also features playgrounds, pet parks and a stocked fishing pond.

Summer Breeze USA Resorts in the greater Houston area: Summer Breeze USA owns and operates three resorts in the greater Houston, including Katy Brookshire RV Resort and Kemah RV Resort. The Kemah resort features a swimming pool and hot tub and park model rentals. The Katy Brookshire RV Resort features a 10,000-square foot indoor heated pool, a giant indoor Texas boot shaped hot tub, a NASA-themed water park, park model and cabin rentals as well as a clubhouse and fitness center.

The Vineyards Campground & Cabins in Grapevine: The Vineyards Campground & Cabins occupies 52 acres of an 850-acre mostly wooded scenic area encircling Grapevine Lake. The park offers RV sites with concrete pads as well as furnished cabins. Amenities include cable television and upgraded Wi-Fi service and a pavilion as well as kayak and bicycle rentals.

VIP La Feria RV Park in La Feria: This big rig-friendly park has two heated swimming pools, two whirlpool hot tub spas, a large rec hall with live music and shows as well as kitchen and banquet facilities, horseshoe pits, and fenced dog park areas.

Schaeffer noted that companies like Athens-based – Athens Park Homes are also supplying Texas campgrounds with fully furnished park model style cabins and cottages with separate bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms. You’ll find these rental accommodations at numerous campgrounds, including many parks listed above and throughout Texas.
