ARVC Releases 2022 Generational Camping Report

The National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (National ARVC) on Tuesday, November 8, released its 2022 Generational Campground Report, detailing what campers are looking for as they search for their next camping adventure.

It’s more important than ever to understand the mind of the camping consumer and understand what they want from a camping experience, which is why National ARVC has partnered with RMS North America and RVshare to provide the industry with the 2022 Generational Camping Report.

The Generational Camping Report depicts an accurate picture of consumers’ mindsets and shines light on important data for the outdoor hospitality industry as a whole. For example, knowing that “more than 90% of the 25 million Americans who camped last year, say they are going to camp the same amount or more in 2023”, is important for business planning for operations and marketing for the coming year and the outlook of the industry as a whole.

“As we’ve seen time and time again, our campground partners are incredibly resilient,” says Adelle Rodriguez, senior marketing director, RMS North America.

“Throughout a pandemic and now on the cusp of a potential recession, we’re reminded how steady campgrounds are and how they continue growing and seeing success in all economic states. At RMS, our goal is to support these businesses by equipping them with actionable insights that drive that growth and position them for greater success regardless of what the future might hold.”

The purpose of this research project is to provide a profile on camping, RVing, and “glamping” preferences and opinions, with a particular focus on differences between campers of different generations.

This report details that behaviors and opinions vary greatly between generations and demographics, therefore, making it crucial to learn these differences and apply it to operations within the industry.

Information on electric vehicles is also included, as they continue to expand their presence in the industry and life in general.

This report was prepared by Readex Research, a nationally recognized independent research company. The survey was designed jointly by ARVC and Readex. The response was tabulated, and this report was prepared in accordance with accepted research standards and practices.

The report is available for National ARVC members by visiting qrco.de/GCR2022.
