East Dorset’s Sandford Holiday Park (United Kingdom) at Organford Road, Holton Heath, has requested Dorset Council planners to replace 21 tent spaces with 14 glamping pitches.
The site owners, Parkdean Resorts UK, said the demand for glamping is growing along with the increase in stay-at-home holidays, according to a report.
The park hopes to use safari tents with timber bases and facilities, including a double and a single bed, a small kitchenette, dining and lounge area, outdoor seating with a decked area, and shared shower and toilet facilities close by.
Parkdeaen said the glamping tents are a standard size with hook-up for services, with each spot occupying a 10m x10m pitch giving room for the tent and an exclusive external decking area with room for a car to be parked next to each tent.
All tents will face south, directed away from one another to allow for privacy.
Public comments on the application, Dorset Council reference 2022/03424, are open until June 29th.
