Porthcawl’s New Lodge Caravan Park Plans: A Potential Boost for Local Businesses and Tourism

Plans for a new lodge caravan park in Porthcawl are set to be presented before the Bridgend council this year.

The proposed development, spearheaded by Nottage Leisure Group Ltd, could potentially see the construction of up to 37 semi-permanent lodges, an office, and a services building on the land of the existing Rooklands Leisure Park.

The park, which is currently open to campers, small motorhomes, and camper vans, is located near the village of Nottage on Pyle Road.

The site, a small, roughly triangular parcel of land off the A4229 Pyle Road, consists of a 1.6-hectare field. It is currently divided into two parts for the campsite and pasture land, according to a report by Wales Online.

If the plans are approved, it would result in the development and expansion of the existing caravan site, transforming it into a better and more modern tourist destination for the Nottage and Porthcawl area.

The proposal suggests that once completed, the lodges would be located around the perimeter of the site with an access road. Additional lodges would be located in the center of the site, looking onto the proposed roadway and a children’s play area.

Asbri Planning Ltd. has been commissioned by Nottage Leisure Group Ltd to undertake pre-application consultation in respect of the full planning application for the proposed development.

Prior to a formal submission to the Local Planning Authority, the proposal will now be subject to pre-application consultation. Residents are encouraged to have their say by contacting Asbri Planning Ltd by August 9, 2023.

This move ensures that the local community has a say in the development that could significantly impact the area.
