The Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards are celebrating excellence in tourism with the announcement of the shortlist for their prestigious awards. According to the Derbyshire Times, the 2025 awards have received an unprecedented number of entries across 15 categories, including a new “Festival or Event of the Year” category. The public can vote for their favorite among nine finalists in this category until December 1, 2024.
The awards recognize a wide range of tourism businesses, with a notable focus on camping and glamping sites. In the “Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year” category, finalists include Boutique Glamping at Scaldersitch Farm, Darwin Forest Lodges, and 3Trees Glamping Ltd.
Boutique Glamping at Scaldersitch Farm offers boutique tipi and yurt glamping accommodation, while Darwin Forest Lodges provides luxurious woodland lodges with on-site activities. 3Trees Glamping Ltd features glamping pod accommodations for a distinctive outdoor experience. Shortlisted businesses will undergo thorough assessments, including mystery shopping visits, to determine the winners.
The joint Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire awards ceremony is scheduled for March 20, 2025, at the East Midlands Conference Centre in Nottingham. Visit Peak District & Derbyshire and Visit Nottinghamshire are collaborating on this event for the first time. Claire Ward, the Mayor of the East Midlands, will preside over the ceremony, highlighting tourism’s importance to the broader East Midlands economy.
Gold winners in each category will advance to the national VisitEngland Awards for Excellence in June 2025, offering opportunities for national recognition.
Jo Dilley, Managing Director of Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, said: “The Peak District, Derbyshire & Derby Tourism Awards are a celebration of our vibrant tourism industry and its enormous contribution to the local and regional economy. As we look forward to celebrating with finalists and partners at our landmark joint Derbyshire-Nottinghamshire awards ceremony in 2025, it’s an extra-special time to not only celebrate individual businesses, but to also recognise the importance of the visitor economy in delivering growth, supporting jobs and driving economic prosperity across the East Midlands.”
The awards reflect the camping and outdoor recreation sector’s resilience and commitment to providing exceptional experiences for the 42 million annual visitors to the area. With the local tourism industry valued at £2.89 billion, these awards set the stage for future growth in this vital sector of the regional economy.
