Outdoor Accommodation Pitchup.com Surpasses £500 Million in Global Bookings

Pitchup.com has surpassed £500 million in total global bookings, marking a transaction milestone for the outdoor accommodation booking platform and signaling continued growth in camping and glamping travel.

Founded in 2009, the company said it has now handled more than £500 million in bookings and facilitated over 35 million bednights since launch, including 5 million nights taken in the past year alone.

Founder Dan Yates said the milestone reflects broader shifts in the travel market. “Reaching £500m in total transaction value is a major milestone, not just for Pitchup.com but for the outdoor accommodation sector as a whole,” Yates said in a press release.

“It reflects how far camping and glamping have come, now sitting firmly in the mainstream and a core part of the global travel mix,” Yates added.

The company has been ranked among the 50 largest global online travel agencies by organic traffic in 2026, placing 36th worldwide and sixth among Europe-focused travel companies.

The ranking positions Pitchup.com alongside platforms traditionally centered on hotels and holiday rentals.

Recent booking data shows accelerating demand for off-peak travel. Bookings for Valentine’s weekend, February 13-15, increased 25% year over year, indicating stronger interest in short breaks outside traditional peak periods.

Yates attributed the shift to value-driven decision-making. “We’re seeing strong growth in destinations that combine accessibility with value,” he said. “Price-conscious travelers are still keen to get away, but they’re making smarter choices around location, length of stay and timing.”

International markets posted significant gains in January. Booking value rose 134% in Portugal, 70% in Hungary and 70% in Germany, according to the company.

Traveler behavior also continued to trend toward shorter and later bookings. Average stay duration in January declined 4% compared with the prior year, while booking lead times fell 5%.

“Shorter lead times and shorter stays are now the norm rather than the exception,” Yates said. “For operators, that means agility is key — availability, pricing and visibility need to work harder to capture late-booking demand.”

Pitchup.com lists 5,648 outdoor accommodation locations across 67 countries, including an average of 3,649 live United Kingdom sites, and reports 38 million annual visitors to its platform.
