Truro Cathedral hosted the Cornwall Tourism Awards on November 7, marking the event’s 23rd year of recognizing exceptional contributions to the tourism industry. Sixty-three awards were presented, spanning a diverse range of categories, during a ceremony that featured live performances and presentations.
Lydcott Glamping received the coveted Winner of Winners award, in addition to a Gold award for Glamping Business of the Year. Their recognition highlights a dedication to creating memorable guest experiences that align with Cornwall’s reputation as a premier tourism destination.
The awards recognized a wide array of categories, from glamping accommodations and hotels to restaurants and visitor attractions, reflecting the dynamic nature of Cornwall’s tourism offerings. Cross-sector awards spotlighted businesses that exemplify ethical practices and sustainable tourism.
Michael Steel, managing director of Visit Cornwall, praised the event as a testament to the dedication and excellence of local tourism businesses. “It’s inspiring to see so many businesses dedicated to excellence in Cornish tourism. Special congratulations go out to the business owners, managers, and every single team member whose hard work and passion make these achievements possible,” Steel remarked.
Robin Barker, the event’s organizer, also highlighted the resilience and innovation of the participants, stating, “It’s always fabulous to celebrate the very best in Cornish tourism. Businesses that, whatever the challenge, continue to keep Cornwall at the fore in terms of service, innovation, accessibility, and sustainability. Congratulations to each and every winner.”
Among the evening’s top honors, the Outstanding Contribution to Tourism award was presented to Mylor Sailing School, recognized for its leadership and influence at a national level. The school also earned Gold awards in the Accessible and Inclusive Tourism and Active & Learning Experience categories.
A new Regenerative Tourism Award, sponsored by Falmouth University, was presented to Lovat Parks for their commitment to environmental stewardship and cultural respect.
Paul Russell of Falmouth University commended Lovat Parks for their approach to business, stating, “They believe in business being a force for good, and are the first B-Corp holiday park group.”
