Historic Woodland Retreat: Dreamy Hollow Blends Nature with WWI Heritage

Dreamy Hollow Woodland Campsite, located near Norfolk’s coastline, combines a woodland camping experience with a historic connection to World War I. The campsite features non-electric grass and woodland pitches for families and groups, alongside an authentic WWI bunker, offering a rare opportunity for guests to engage with history while enjoying natural surroundings.

The site caters to diverse camping preferences, with family-friendly areas on the eastern side and adult-only sections on the western side. Four additional group pitches accommodate larger gatherings, each sleeping between 10 and 15 people. Pitches are also equipped with fire baskets, encouraging evenings spent by a campfire, and the site includes a wood-fired pizza oven for added convenience.

For a unique historical experience, visitors can stay in Sgt. Taylor’s Bunker, which accommodates four adults. The bunker, a restored World War I structure, offers basic amenities such as mattresses, a small wood-burning fire, and a copper kettle. Guests are required to bring their bedding.

The campsite is also pet-friendly, welcoming dogs as long as they are kept on a lead and cleaned up after. Campfires are permitted, provided they are contained within raised fire pits. To maintain the site’s natural ambiance, vehicles, except for camper vans, must be parked in a designated area, with barrows and a buggy provided to transport gear to pitches.

Located just 15 minutes from Brancaster Beach and the Norfolk Coast Path, Dreamy Hollow is positioned for visitors seeking both tranquility in nature and access to coastal attractions. Onsite activities include archery, enhancing the experience for outdoor enthusiasts.

“Dreamy Hollow is a very unique and special piece of quiet woodland. Listed as a site of National Importance by Historic England it has a sense of peace that you have to experience to appreciate. We love to offer campers holidays in the true meaning of the word, time to restore that feeling of wholeness by just being in nature,” the site indicated.
