Meadow Bay Villages, the new owner, has announced a £12 million investment to revitalize Billing Aquadrome, one of Britain’s holiday resorts. This substantial upgrade marks a pivotal moment for the resort, which transitioned to new ownership in spring 2024. The initiative reflects a long-term vision to enhance the guest experience at Billing Aquadrome, with over 50,000 visitors expected to enjoy the site by the end of the year.
In an article published by Love Business, Geoffrey Smith, chief executive of Meadow Bay Villages, expressed pride in the resort’s transformation and emphasized the positive response from holidaymakers and the local community.
“We purchased Billing Aquadrome just over four months ago and to have invested £12 million in the resort in such a short space of time has led to a transformation that we are very proud of and has been hugely welcomed by holidaymakers, colleagues, and the local community,” Smith explained.
The investment will fund significant improvements to the resort’s facilities, particularly in swimming and water activities. A new Fountain Splash Lido area will feature outdoor loungers and eateries, while the water park will cater to outdoor enthusiasts, offering wood-burning saunas, and a plunge pool.
New recreational activities include paddle boarding, kayaking, pedalos, and an inflatable water obstacle course to engage guests with fun, challenging elements.
For land-based excitement, a BMX pump track has been constructed by the same team that built the Supercross tracks for the London and Paris Olympics. Additionally, new football facilities will cater to both children and adults, allowing guests to practice their skills in a supportive environment.
A Himalayan Adventure Golf Course has also been built for golf enthusiasts, providing a unique opportunity to enjoy this popular pastime.
Families seeking to explore the outdoors will also find opportunities at the new adventure island, including bushcraft skills, den building, and nature forensics. This new addition is designed to foster a connection with nature and promote outdoor learning experiences for guests of all ages. Furthermore, a newly constructed boardwalk encircles the resort’s natural lakes.
Entertainment options at Billing Aquadrome are expanding with the introduction of an amphitheater and an open-air cinema designed to create inviting spaces for guests to unwind after a day filled with activities.
In addition to these recreational upgrades, Meadow Bay Villages has also focused on enhancing accommodations. New holiday lodges have been added, alongside refurbished tenting and touring caravan facilities, which now include hard standing and super pitches.
