The outdoor hospitality sector is taking steps to address recruitment challenges and increase awareness of its professions through a new initiative, the Camping Job Tour, scheduled for Thursday, 19 February.
The event is designed to provide job seekers with firsthand experience of careers within the camping and outdoor hotel industry, which plays a significant role in regional tourism.
Twelve establishments, including four in Marseillan-Plage—La Créole, Les Méditerranées, Le Paradis Robinson, and Dunes and Soleil Homair—will open their doors to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The initiative is led by FHPA Occitanie in partnership with the human resources firm Altitud RH. Organisers aim to provide a clear view of the sector’s professional opportunities and break down misconceptions about the work involved.
The Camping Job Tour will include behind-the-scenes visits, practical workshops conducted by industry professionals, and dedicated spaces for job interviews. Positions offered span seasonal, fixed-term, permanent contracts, and internships, with some roles including accommodation.
The event is aimed at a broad audience, including students, people seeking seasonal work, individuals considering career retraining, and those already familiar with the sector.
By providing direct exposure to the variety of roles available—from reception and animation to technology and management—the initiative seeks to support the sector’s recruitment needs and promote long-term career pathways within outdoor hospitality.
For business owners and managers, understanding these initiatives can inform workforce planning, partnership opportunities, and potential recruitment strategies to meet operational demands in peak seasons.
The Camping Job Tour represents a collaborative effort between the local tourism sector and HR professionals to strengthen workforce capacity and demonstrate the evolving career opportunities in outdoor hospitality. According to Midi Libre, the event will run throughout Thursday, 19 February, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering attendees an opportunity to explore the sector’s diversity and engage directly with potential employers.
