Following a two-year hiatus, Canada Parks Day is returning this Saturday, July 16.
According to Nova Scotia’s website, Canada Parks Day activities at federal, provincial, and municipal parks provide opportunities for families to have fun and learn new things about parks and historical sites, the value of ecosystems, and protecting habitat.
Events at provincial parks on Saturday include:
- Make and Fly a Kite, Blomidon Provincial Park, Kings County
- Smokey Bear and Cake, Blomidon
- Wild about Wildlife, Dollar Lake Provincial Park, Halifax Regional Municipality
- Trees and Me, Laurie Provincial Park, Halifax Regional Municipality.
Over the last two years, park events were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Most provincial, federal and municipal park agencies celebrate Canada Parks Day.
Canada’s Parks Day also serves as a great opportunity to commemorate significant park anniversaries, including Battery Park’s 55-year anniversary, Dollar Lake’s 40th year,
Mira River’s 55 years, and Thomas Raddall’s 25th year.
