The 2022 Canadian Outdoor Hospitality Conference & Expo hosted by the Canadian Camping & RV Council (CCRVC) is happening next month and will feature educational sessions, awards, and an auction.
The three-day event will be held virtually and yes, even the auction. CCRVC will be using a platform called Accelevents for the conference happening from March 8 to 10.
“The auction is essentially built into the event. All of our attendees will be able to jump in and out of the auction as they want and place their bids digitally,” Cara Csizmadia told Modern Campground. She is CCRVC’s Member Services Coordinator.
The platform will also notify bidders if they are being outbid where they could opt to get in and bump things up to win the bid.
The auction will benefit Care Camps, a non-profit that helps children with cancer enjoy camping and spend time in the great outdoors. The Canadian association hopes to see bigger support than last year and raise “a good bunch of money for the auction.”
CCRVC is working hard to secure auction item donations from industry partners and supplier vendors, as per Csizmadia. Campground owners were also generous last year as they contributed stays at their properties for the auction.
The group is also considering holding the auction for a bit longer and opening it to the broader public so more than just conference attendees can support Care Camps.
As preparations for the conference are underway, pandemic restrictions are anything except detrimental for the event to push through. If anything, the virtual event gives more access to those who wish to attend.
“Going virtually really broadens accessibility across the board to everyone without requiring travel and all of those things right now,” Csizmadia said.
