Village of Nakusp’s Natural Adventure Park Ready for Phase Two, Campground Fees to Increase

The Village of Nakusp (British Columbia, Canada) is prepared to see the second phase of Nakusp Rotary Club’s Natural Adventure Park.

According to a report, the park’s initial phase was completed within budget and months ahead of schedule. In December, the community group turned the project over to the village and requested whether the village was ready to move on to the next phase. The CA$250,000 upgrade will see things like a zip line, tower slide, as well as a parkour course built.

Additionally, the village will also contribute CA$50,000 to the NACFOR Legacy Fund to help finance the project and allow the contingency fund of CA$18,000 that was left from the first phase to be used for contingency funds for phase two. The work should start this spring.

As the council has done the first three readings of a revised Fees and Charges bylaw, hot spring, chalets, and municipal campground fees will see an increase.

Hot spring chalet rental costs are increasing by 5 to 10% (about CA$8-CA$11 per night), hot springs campground fees are rising by 77% (CA$2) for non-powered RV sites and by 9% ($3) for RV powered sites.

The rate increases are to cover increasing costs,” said a council report.

“Local accommodator rates and regional campground rates were reviewed to ensure our pricing remains competitive.”

Municipal campground charges will also increase by 10% for powered sites and 4% for non-powered sites. The rates were last increased in 2018 and are currently priced below market average, says council report.

It will cost you more to flush as the rates for sewer services are likely to increase by 5% to fund future maintenance.

A 2017 report stated that the village should be squeezing around CA$300,000 a year to pay for the cost of capital replacement over the next 30 years. At present, it’s only just a little bit half of the amount.
Nakusp Hot Springs, Chalets, and Campground offers spacious creekside RV and tenting campground, and cozy cedar chalets.
