Peachland council (British Columbia, Canada) members will consider the proposed redevelopment of Todd’s Camping and RV sites into town-style buildings and bungalows tomorrow, March 22 during its regular council meeting.
As per a report, city staff recommended that the council adopt the first step. Staff was instructed to set up a public hearing regarding the development.
The proposed development would comprise six luxurious beachside bungalows and three European hill town-style buildings, which would equal 46 units on the existing RV site located at 3976 Beach Avenue.
Todd’s RV and Camping is 66 years old. Its former owner Graham Todd said he would like to see it grow into a park or maintain it as a camping area, but there weren’t any interested. It was the last privately-owned campground located on Okanagan Lake.
As per the council’s documents, the campground will be in operation throughout this year, until the site is developed.
“Staff has identified that this development proposal presents a unique opportunity to create a three-meter wide asphalt trail to connect Beach Avenue up to Highway 97 to support active transportation modes,” the staff report reads.
The multi-modal walkway, sidewalk extension, trail connections, and capital contributions will provide better accessibility for pedestrians and vehicles to Okanagan Lake.
There would also be 670 square meters of parkland dedicated to the southern part of the site. According to council documents, this could allow the district to increase the size of the park space to be used by the public.
