For owners, operators, team members, and anyone else interested in camping, glamping, or the RV industry.

BCLCA on the Lookout for ‘Ideas Forum’ Speakers

For what will be a hybrid event this year, members of the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association (BCLCA) will see each other face-to-face in Kelowna (British Columbia) for the Ideas Forum from October 18-20.

Going with the theme “Together Again,” suppliers across the Canadian province, as well as association members and executives, will gather at the Ramada Hotel to connect and enjoy.

Stakeholders will indeed be together once more to participate in a series of educational sessions that will improve the knowledge of campground, RV park, lodging, and glamping owners, managers, and staff.

To make the educational portion an enriching experience, BCLCA is calling for proposals for potential speakers and facilitators for the breakout sessions.

“We are looking for speakers and facilitators with innovative solutions and great stories to share for this year’s unique program,” the association said in a statement. The education program will encourage participants to rethink and reimagine approaches to running their businesses.

Covering multiple facets of running and owning campgrounds and lodges, the education program will also feature creative workshops and learning activities that will help operators fulfill organizational and business goals.

Those interested in being a speaker can submit an entry until July 31. To learn more, click here.

Due to the pandemic, the BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association held last year’s forum online. This year, members will finally gather in person for the first time since October 2019, and because of the hybrid format, the Ideas Forum will also have a virtual viewing this year. This means that everyone across Canada will also be able to access the event.

In last year’s virtual event, members went online from October 19 to 21 to learn, share, network and shop. Industry experts were present to inspire and educate attendees.

Kampgrounds of America (KOA) CEO and President Toby O’Rourke was present to discuss capital improvements, converting underutilized sites into higher yield sites, employee retention, and more.

Plenty of commentary and experiences were also exchanged among participants during the cracker barrel. Discussion topics ranged from navigating employee shortages to WiFi.

Last year’s tradeshow saw vendors showcasing their products and services through virtual sessions. This year, suppliers will be able to share their offerings in-person and online because the tradeshow will also be hybrid.

Details for the 2022 Ideas Forum will be available at https://bc.mycampcon.com/ soon.

The BC Lodging and Campgrounds Association (BCLCA) is a non-profit trade association and consumer marketing organization. The group represents the interests of British Columbia’s private lodging and campground/RV park businesses.
