Basecamp Resorts Partners with POW Canada, veritree to Support Sustainability Programs

Basecamp Resorts, a Canadian hospitality brand, has announced a CA$150,000 commitment over the next three years to support environmental initiatives. The funds will benefit Protect Our Winters (POW) Canada, an advocacy group focused on climate change solutions and veritree, a reforestation platform.

POW Canada, an extension of the Boulder, Colorado-based nonprofit founded by snowboarder Jeremy Jones, collaborates with outdoor enthusiasts and brands to address climate challenges. Basecamp Resorts will contribute $25,000 annually to support POW Canada’s campaigns and events, including “$now Me the Money,” which mobilizes public advocacy through petitions and educational initiatives.

Basecamp Resorts also partnered with veritree, a Vancouver-based platform dedicated to restoring forested ecosystems. The hospitality brand will allocate CA$25,000 annually to support reforestation projects in Alberta and British Columbia, including Alberta’s Sawle Lake Smart Forest. These funds will aid in revitalizing areas affected by deforestation and wildfires. Basecamp and veritree plan to collaborate on events, awareness initiatives, and community engagement projects, with progress tracked on the Basecamp Resorts website.

“We continue to witness firsthand the devastating impacts of climate change on the lands and communities across British Columbia and Alberta that we operate in—places that we love and respect deeply,” Sky McLean, founder and CEO of Basecamp Resorts, said in a press release. “Through these new partnerships, our goal is to make a meaningful impact and to give back to the environments that give so much to us. We are proud to support POW and veritree as they work to restore and protect Canada’s most precious resources.”

McLean added, “Basecamp Resorts has always been dedicated to serving Western Canada’s mountain destinations and everything they offer—from lakes, forests, and trails to ski terrain, wildlife, and endless natural wonders. This has allowed us and our guests to experience countless unforgettable moments, and it is our responsibility and duty to protect these lands for future generations to explore.”

Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Canmore, Alberta, Basecamp Resorts operates boutique accommodations across Western Canada. Its properties provide guests with Airbnb-inspired lodging paired with hotel-like amenities, including fully equipped kitchens, outdoor hot tubs, and scenic mountain views.
