A new glamping resort is opening southwest of Edmonton (Canada).
Urban River Adventures is hoping to capitalize on the popularity of glamping by opening a new glamping resort southwest of Edmonton.
As per a report, founder Steve Capp said the location is perfect, located on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, less than an hour away from the city.
The resort is divided into two levels. One is higher up and is more easily accessible, with stunning views of the river valley, while the lower level is right on the waterfront.
“This year, we’ve got 128 acres to explore. There’s so many hiking trails, ravines, and beaver dams,” Capp explained.
Visitors can stay in a geodome, cabin, or tree tent suspended in the air.
Capp says the experience is like backcountry camping without the hassle.
“We’re offering that type of experience and that type of disconnection with all the comforts of home,” he said.
“You’ve got queen and king-sized beds. Everything is fully furnished, ready to go. You don’t have to go out and buy all your own equipment and plan out your trip.”
The resort will also have a free hot tub and wood-fired sauna for guests. They are also offering jet boat tours, kayaking, paddleboarding, and tubing on the river.
Capp is placing a lot of emphasis on being environmentally conscious.
“This year we’re going to educate our guests on leaving no trace again and using compostable toilets: how to use them and set them up. And solar power, we’re putting solar panels on 50% of our accommodations.”
The glamping experience includes plenty of camping supplies such as cooking utensils and bedding, but Capp said the clothing guests bring is also critical.
The resort’s construction is in progress, and the first geodome is scheduled to be completed next week.
Urban River Adventures is set to open on May 15, and most weekends have already been booked as a sign of the demand for glamping.
