Winter Wanderers Hiking Series Set to Kick Off in Dwellingup

Western Australia’s Shire of Murray Council launched the ‘Winter Wanderers’ hiking series in Dwellingup, partnering with Off the Beaten Track WA. This aims to boost hiking participation by educating participants about best practices and local trail knowledge in the region.

The council announced that the project will feature six winter hikes, each on various trails within the Shire of Murray. The council also encourages participants to explore Dwellingup’s scenic landscapes.

“Encouraging you to explore Dwellingup’s beautiful landscapes, gain essential hiking skills and a deeper appreciation for the great outdoors with one of the best in the business,” the council stated, as reported by Australian Seniors News on June 5.

The hiking events showcase the Chuditch and Island Pool Guided Hike. Another highlight is the Dwellingup to Nanga Guided Hike along the iconic Bibbulmun Track. Participants can also enjoy the Marrinup Falls Guided Hike. Each hike is priced at AU$20 per adult and AU$15 per child, with bookings essential due to limited spaces.

According to its website, Dwellingup, located just over an hour’s drive south of Perth, offers a getaway for outdoor enthusiasts. This area boasts a variety of flora and fauna and offers opportunities for bushwalking, mountain biking, and secluded camping.

Another highlight of Dwellingup is its accommodations. Lane Poole Reserve offers off-grid camping options alongside the comfort of a country caravan park. The Dwellingup Chalets and Caravan Park accommodation provides three types of chalets to suit all styles and budgets, including options with log fires and air conditioning for year-round comfort.

Guests can choose from fully equipped cabins or budget options where they bring their own linen. The park caters to bushwalkers with powered camping sites and secluded, shady areas perfect for sitting around a campfire with provided firewood. Other amenities include a camper’s kitchen, laundry, showers, BBQ facilities, and dining areas.

The Shire of Murray Council’s ‘Winter Wanderers’ hiking series approach highlights valuable insights for private campground operators and RV park owners. Integrating diverse outdoor events such as guided hikes can significantly boost visitor engagement and attract a broader audience, encouraging an active lifestyle and greater environmental appreciation.
