Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow Anticipates Record-Breaking Attendance

Victoria’s (Australia) biggest caravanning and camping show is returning to Melbourne Showgrounds this April 6 to 10, and the organizers, Caravan Industry Victoria, are anticipating record-breaking attendance.

As per a report, the popularity of camping and caravanning has increased dramatically over the last two years, and what was a once-exclusive realm of grey nomads has become a chance for Victorians of all age groups to enjoy the excitement and freedom of holidays on the road.

The Vourmard family consists of parents Rob and Meaghan and their three boys, Charlie, Tommy, and Ollie, the best illustration of Victoria’s current camping community.

“We started with a tent before the boys were born,” says Meghan. Then we progressed to a camper trailer, and more recently, we upgraded to a caravan with all the mod cons.

“We have the van packed and ready to go at a moment’s notice. It means we can decide on a Friday night if we want to head off. We can be totally spontaneous.”

Meaghan and Rob are awestruck by the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of camping and the unique family bonding time it provides. They’ve traveled across Victoria when loosened restrictions allowed them to create many memories.

“There are so many activities for the kids to enjoy,” says Meaghan. “They forget about devices and make their own play. It’s relaxing for us, too, knowing they are safe. We are all healthier and happier.”

Caravan Industry Victoria CEO Rob Lucas says that his team is gearing up for the biggest show ever. A long-term camping and caravanning aficionado, Rob is not surprised by the exponential growth that the industry has seen over the last few years.

“With the closure of international and state borders during Covid-19 lockdowns, Victorians have looked closer to home for alternative travel options,” says Rob. “And thousands have discovered what many of us have known all along… that caravanning and camping is a truly safe, adventurous, and often cost-effective way to see the world.”

“The beauty of camping is there is an option for every budget. From a two-man tent up to a top-of-the-range motor home with everything that opens and closes. And a wide range in between.”

The Victorian Caravan, Camping & Touring Supershow, scheduled to last for five days, will display the latest and greatest from more than 180 exhibitors. Visitors will see fantastic innovation and design and experience interactive shows across the spectrum of caravanning, camping, and motor homes.

“This is the most exciting show to date,” says Rob. “We cannot wait to welcome everyone to the Melbourne Showgrounds.”
