Parks Victoria Offers Half-Price Camping Through July 2027 in Yarra Ranges

Camping and caravan experiences in the Yarra Ranges continue to attract visitors seeking outdoor recreation and accessible facilities during the cooler months. Caravan parks, campgrounds, and state-managed sites provide a variety of options for travelers and highlight opportunities for business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector.

Lilydale’s Pine Hill Caravan Park is situated at the start of the Warburton Highway, offering convenient access to the Yarra Valley, Upper Yarra, and Dandenong Ranges.

The park caters to travelers seeking a base for exploring the region while providing essential facilities that support longer stays. BIG4’s Yarra Valley Park Lane in Healesville is another location within the region that combines on-site amenities with scenic surroundings, including Badger Creek and Lake Picaninny.

Parks Victoria has announced that many of its campsites will remain available at half-price through July 2027, providing an incentive for visitors to explore state-managed locations.

The Upper Yarra Reservoir area near Reefton offers camping with lookouts over the dam, forest walks, and wildlife observation opportunities. Other accessible sites include Longridge Campground in Warrandyte, The Gums Campground near Glenburn in Kinglake National Park, and Neds Gully and Cooks Mill camping areas between Buxton and Taggerty.

Toolangi State Forest provides additional campgrounds for a fee, frequently used by motorbike riders and four-wheel-drive enthusiasts, including Dindi Mill Camp, Bull Creek Camp, Ferns Camp, and Water Gauge Camp.

Free camping options are also available, though high-demand periods may require early arrival. Sites near Gembrook include Kurth Kiln Scout Loop, Magazine Track, Nash Creek, Mortimer Picnic Ground, Freemans Mill, and Dyers Camping and Picnic Area.

Upper Yarra locations such as Starlings Gap in McMahons Creek and the Latrobe River camping area in Gentle Annie provide vehicle access, while Federal Mill and areas near the Ada Tree offer hike-in options, according to Star Mail.

Additional sites along Acheron Way include Cliffview, Feiglins Road Bridge, and Grimes campsite, with Anderson Mill campground located before Marysville. Trailbike riders can access free sites at Kalatha Creek and Two Hills Campground in Glenburn.

Visitors traveling beyond the Yarra Ranges are advised to plan stops in local townships for resupply and support services, demonstrating how regional towns and camping facilities can mutually benefit from recreational tourism.

For outdoor hospitality operators, understanding visitor trends, offering accessible facilities, and collaborating with local tourism infrastructure are key strategies to maximize occupancy and encourage repeat visits throughout the off-peak season.
