The City of Launceston in Tasmania announced the opening of bookings for the Myrtle Park Camping Ground for the upcoming summer season. The campground opens from Sunday, September 1, through Friday, May 30, 2025, offering an extended period for campers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Campers can now secure their spots through the Launceston Visitor Information Center or via the online booking link. With 30 campsites available to the public, including 15 river frontage sites, early booking is advisable to ensure the best selection.

According to a press release, the camping fees are set at AU$20 per site for two adults, with children 15 and under staying free, and an additional AU$5 per night for each extra adult.

Situated in a spacious, open grassed area alongside the St. Patricks River in Targa, Myrtle Park Camping Ground provides a destination for those seeking a blend of natural beauty and modern amenities. The campground boasts unpowered sites, catering to large caravans and motorhomes.

The City of Launceston has ensured that campers will have access to a range of amenities to enhance their stay. The campground features barbecues, playgrounds, and tennis courts for recreational activities. Essential facilities such as showers, toilets, and a laundry area are also provided.

Dogs are also permitted on a leash in Myrtle Park. However, several “environmentally sensitive” areas prohibit dogs. These areas are clearly marked with ‘dogs not allowed’ signs.

“We kindly request that noise levels are kept to a minimum between the hours of 10pm and 7am to respect other guests. Excessive noise during these times will not be tolerated,” the press release indicated.

Myrtle Park offers various amenities including showers, toilets, laundry facilities, and barbecues. However, campers are advised to bring their own drinking water as the park’s current water supply is not suitable for consumption. Additionally, campers at Myrtle Park can book multiple sites for their stay. However, there is a limit of 14 consecutive nights, regardless of the number of sites booked.
