Lease approved for Campdraft and Riding for Disabled

A long-term lease with Goulburn Campdraft Association and Riding for Disabled for 55 hectares on 632 Taralga Road has been approved during last week’s council meeting, Goulbourn Mayor Bob Kirk said in a mayoral minute post.

“This lease will allow these two hard-working community organizations to plan for their future,” he said. They will be able to invest in the facilities and lobby for grants to fund their master plan.

The land is owned by the council and rent will be paid by both organizations at $496 per year. Both parties submitted a joint expression of interest in the land, with the intent of creating shared facilities for equine activity.

The master plan will be developed with stages for development. Plans are in progress for a camp draft area, undercover sand arena, livestock yards, and a car park. The area will need road works, water reticulation, and fence construction. Some elements of this plan will require consent from the development department.

Local entrepreneurs and start-ups can receive funding

In addition, the report also mentioned funding for local entrepreneurs.

After UOW’s accelerator iAccelerate and business incubator iAccelerate were awarded $999,570 by the combined Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund (BLER) of the Federal and NSW governments, their region will benefit from an initiative at University of Wollongong to increase economic resilience and create job opportunities.

iAccelerate will provide education programs to support 90 promising entrepreneurs and business owners from bushfire-affected areas in order to create 300 jobs, he said in the report.
