King Street Car Park: A Temporary Solution for RV Enthusiasts in Illawarra

The car park on King Street in Warrawong, New South Wales, Australia has recently become a popular spot for RV enthusiasts looking for a temporary camping spot.

The NSW Government owns the land, and there are currently no restrictions preventing members of the public from staying in the car park, according to a report by WaveFM.

The makeshift campground has been growing in popularity, with more than a dozen campervans, buses, and caravans counted in the car park in recent days. Some people appear to have set up camp permanently, with one campervan lined by pot plants.

While the Member for Wollongong, Paul Scully, points out that the situation highlights a lack of accommodation in the Illawarra region, it also provides a temporary solution for RV enthusiasts looking for a spot to park and enjoy the beautiful views of Kully Bay.

Scully said a variety of people are currently traveling through the area, and the makeshift campground offers them a place to stay.

He said it also means the council has got to think about what they might have to do with making sure that there are facilities around the Illawarra, such as dump sites and those sorts of things, for those people who might want to travel through here and stay in a campervan.

While the future of the land is uncertain, and there are plans for it to be developed, the King Street car park offers a temporary solution for RV enthusiasts looking to explore the Illawarra region.
