Ingenia Holidays has announced plans for an A$12 million expansion at its Ingenia Holidays Rivershore property on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, with construction expected to be completed in late 2026.
The development will add 80 new accommodation options to the park, reflecting the company’s strategy to expand capacity at established destinations and respond to continued demand for outdoor-focused travel experiences.
The project will introduce a mix of glamping and traditional caravan park accommodations. According to the company, the additions will include 13 new Family Safari Tents, seven Hideaway Tents, four Tiny Homes, and 56 ensuite-powered caravan and RV sites.
Once completed, the expanded inventory is expected to increase the park’s ability to host families, couples, and leisure travelers visiting the region.
The development will also include new guest amenities. Plans call for the construction of a 300-square-meter swimming pool featuring a gradual access ramp and in-water seating, as well as a new camp kitchen and barbecue area intended to support communal dining and social gatherings among guests.
Located along the Maroochy River, Ingenia Holidays Rivershore first opened in 2016 and has operated as one of the company’s flagship tourism parks. The property combines riverside campsites, cabin-style accommodations, and resort-style amenities.
Existing facilities include a resort-style pool, family-oriented recreation areas, and the on-site Driftwood Restaurant & Bar, which serves both park guests and local residents.
Matthew Young, executive general manager – tourism at Ingenia Holidays, told the Australasian Leisure Management that the investment reflects shifting traveler expectations toward nature-based holidays that still provide modern comforts.
“This investment reflects how Australians want to holiday today – outdoors, connected to nature, but without compromising on comfort. Rivershore has long been a standout on the Sunshine Coast, and this development allows us to welcome more guests while continuing to deliver the high-quality experiences the park is known for.”
The expansion is part of Ingenia Holidays’ broader tourism strategy focused on strengthening its coastal park portfolio and supporting visitation to regional destinations across Australia.
As travel demand continues to shift toward outdoor accommodations, operators have increasingly invested in diversified lodging formats such as glamping tents, tiny homes, and upgraded powered sites to appeal to a wider range of guests.
For professionals in the outdoor hospitality sector, the Rivershore project highlights several ongoing industry trends, including the integration of premium glamping products within traditional caravan parks, the addition of resort-style amenities to increase length of stay, and the expansion of mixed accommodation models within a single property.
These approaches allow operators to capture multiple guest segments while optimizing land use and revenue per site.
Ingenia Holidays Rivershore currently reports strong guest satisfaction, with the property averaging a 4.6-star rating across Google reviews and major booking platforms. According to Young, the park’s location and amenities position it well for continued growth as new accommodations come online.
Young added, “With its riverside location, premium amenities and extended accommodation offering, Ingenia Holidays Rivershore is well positioned to remain a must-stay destination on the Sunshine Coast.”
