Caravan Parks Across Australia Benefit from Federal Grant Program Supporting Regional Tourism

The Caravan Parks Grant Program, a collaborative initiative between the Caravan Industry Association of Australia and the Federal Government, has officially concluded, marking the completion of infrastructure improvement projects in 110 caravan parks across the country.

Over the past 18 months, the program distributed grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 to support these enhancements.

The program aimed to improve amenities and elevate visitor experiences while highlighting the role of caravan parks as significant contributors to regional and local economies.

Caravan Industry Association of Australia Chief Executive Stuart Lamont emphasized the importance of the sector, noting its economic impact.

“Caravan parks are major economic drivers for Australia’s tourism sector, generating almost $14 billion of revenue each year,” Lamont said in a press release.

With approximately 90% of caravan parks located in regional areas, the funding was seen as essential to sustaining these businesses and the communities they support.

Lamont highlighted the dual benefits of the program, which not only upgraded facilities but also enhanced the overall appeal of the parks.

“Supporting these parks through well-targeted funding, like that offered through the Caravan Parks Grant Program, is essential, as it helps deliver more attractive visitor amenities and a more appealing and contemporary overall product,” he added.

Luke Chippindale, the association’s general manager of government relations & corporate communications, praised the collaboration between government and industry in achieving outcomes that serve long-term interests.

“The results are proof that when government and industry collaborate effectively, we can achieve outcomes that resonate nationwide,” Chippindale said.

For professionals in the caravan and outdoor hospitality industries, the program serves as a model for leveraging public-private partnerships to drive growth and improve offerings.

Operators may draw insights from this initiative to advocate for similar funding opportunities or industry collaboration efforts in their regions, ensuring continued investment in infrastructure that meets evolving consumer expectations.
