Australia RV Importer Obtains RVMAP Accreditation

MDC Camper Trailers and Offroad Caravans (MDC) became the first offroad camper trailer and hybrid caravan importer to be granted RVMAP approval from the Caravan Industry Association of Australia.

MDC has worked with the Caravan Industry Association of Australia for more than 12 months on the RVMAP application.

“We are incredibly excited and proud to be the first offroad camper trailer and hybrid caravan importer to display the RVMAP badge on our products,” said MDC Managing Director Vaughan Hindley.

“As a company, MDC has always strived to provide the best possible products to market for the benefit of our customers, so achieving RVMAP accredited status really allows us to genuinely demonstrate this commitment.”

While initially discussing products produced by the MDC’s Brisbane Assembly Facility, both MDC and the Caravan Industry Association of Australia are working towards accreditation of products made from assembly facilities located in Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide in the shortest time possible. COVID-19 travel restrictions permit RV-related products to be examined.

Caravan Industry Association of Australia CEO Mr. Stuart Lamont was full of praise for the staff at MDC and recently visited MDC’s Brisbane operation.

“RVMAP accreditation is not handed out lightly, with ongoing evidence of a business’s commitment to supplying a product which complies with relevant Australian Design Rules and other Federal construction compliance regulations required to be RVMAP accredited.”

To gain RVMAP accreditation, a thorough examination of the product and processes is required with the approval of the RVMAP group of compliance engineers over multiple inspections.

Caravan Industry Association of Australia has released more than 3,000 audit documents over the past four years, examining federal compliance obligations and giving guidance to RVMAP businesses on meeting their compliance obligations.

“With the proliferation of new brands and RV products being offered on the market, it’s essential that customers get the most accurate information to make a choice. Given the volume of work performed by our engineers to assist RVMAP companies, it’s not surprising that they find almost four times more issues with compliance in products sold by businesses that are not members of RVMAP in comparison to RVMAP accredited companies,” Mr. Lamont declared.

“As Australia’s largest distributor of imported RV product, it was encouraging to see the effort being taken by the team at MDC to make sure their products are supplied to the market in accordance with Australian regulations.”

MDC’s Brisbane facility products will bear the RVMAP “International” badge, representing that these products originate from off-shore.
