Hwaam Healing Campsite Opens in South Korea With 45 Deck Sites and Three Glamping Units

Hwaam Healing Campsite has opened in the Hwaam tourism zone in Jeongseon-gun, South Korea, adding new camping and glamping accommodations to the county’s outdoor tourism offerings. The development combines nature-based recreation with access to nearby attractions and planned cultural programming, with autumn foliage among the features expected to draw visitors.

According to Jeongseon-gun, the campsite was developed at a cost of 3.3 billion won (approximately $2.47 million). Located in the Hwaam-ri area, the property covers 7,183 square meters and is designed to provide visitors with opportunities for outdoor relaxation and cultural experiences.

The facility includes 45 deck campsites and three glamping units, along with washing facilities, showers, and other amenities. The combination of traditional camping pitches and ready-to-use accommodations gives the site options for visitors with different preferences and equipment requirements.

Jeongseon-gun is also developing cultural programs for the campsite, according to The Herald Business. The county has previously organized impromptu busking performances featuring domestic and international musicians at Byeongbangchi and Mindungsan. Similar programming could help expand the visitor experience beyond overnight accommodation by incorporating entertainment and local cultural activities into the camping offering.

The campsite is positioned to attract visitors during South Korea’s autumn foliage season, when surrounding mountain slopes change color. However, its location near several other attractions is intended to support visits throughout the year. Nearby destinations include Hwaam mineral spring, an octagonal pavilion cafe, and a suspension bridge.

For outdoor hospitality operators, the project illustrates how a campsite can be positioned around more than its accommodation inventory. Scenic surroundings, nearby tourism facilities, and cultural programming can contribute to a broader destination offering. For operators evaluating similar developments, these elements may provide opportunities to attract different visitor segments and encourage guests to explore the surrounding area. Their effectiveness, however, will depend on seasonal demand, operating costs, pricing, and the quality of the overall visitor experience.

Hwaam Healing Campsite operates with check-in beginning at 2 p.m. and check-out at 11 a.m. the following day. Deck campsite rates range from 30,000 won to 70,000 won, depending on the season, while glamping accommodations cost between 110,000 won and 190,000 won. Access to the sauna is priced separately at 30,000 won.

Reservations are available online through the Jeongseon-gun Facilities Management Corporation. The published rates provide visitors with different accommodation options, while seasonal pricing allows the operator to vary campsite fees according to the time of year.

“We will operate the campsite so that it becomes a destination where visitors can enjoy the beautiful nature of Hwaam up close and spend leisurely time with family, friends and loved ones,” said Jeon Jeung-pyo, chairman of the Jeongseon-gun Facilities Management Corporation.

The opening adds another accommodation option to Jeongseon-gun’s tourism infrastructure, with the campsite combining outdoor stays, regional attractions, and planned cultural activities. Its longer-term performance will depend on how effectively the facility attracts visitors across different seasons and integrates its accommodation offerings with the wider tourism area.
