Shinhan Bank Cambodia Plc, the first Korean financial institution in Cambodia, is expanding its reach beyond traditional banking services. With 14 branches in Phnom Penh and one in Siem Reap, the bank is now promoting forest recreation services in the country according to an article by Phnom Penh Post.
The bank has partnered with the Forestry Administration, the Kampong Speu Provincial Administration, and the Korea-Mekong Forest Cooperation Center to support sustainable forest management and responsible tourism. This initiative aims to establish models for forest recreation that could benefit the outdoor hospitality industry in Cambodia.
As part of this collaboration, efforts are being made to develop forest recreation facilities and educational programs. These projects have the potential to stimulate local economies, create jobs, and increase community participation in forest preservation. Such developments may expand opportunities for campgrounds, RV parks, and glamping resorts in the region.
The partnership showcases the potential for cooperation in promoting sustainable development in Cambodia’s outdoor recreation sector. As these initiatives progress, they may enhance the country’s tourism offerings and set a precedent for future collaborations in forest conservation and community-based tourism across Cambodia, potentially creating new opportunities for the outdoor hospitality industry.
