Hoshinoya Fuji Launches Autumn Forest Glamping Program in Japan

Hoshinoya Fuji, a glamping resort overlooking Lake Kawaguchi in Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture, is offering its “Autumn Forest Glamping Stay” through Dec. 2, 2026, with a series of seasonal activities designed around the forests at the northern foothills of Mt. Fuji.

Located on a hillside at an elevation of approximately 840 to 940 meters, Hoshinoya Fuji is positioning the program as a fall experience centered on the changing forest environment. The seasonal offering combines guided nature activities, campfire experiences, moonlit programming, forest-based scents and an in-cabin dining option.

One of the experiences is the “Autumn Forest Discover Walk,” which takes place in the afternoon with a glamping master. Guests can walk through the forest, observe fallen leaves, and look for nuts and mushrooms associated with the cedar and cypress trees. The activity also encourages guests to listen for birds and other wildlife as they move through the landscape.

Following the walk, guests can take part in a coffee break among the autumn foliage. Field coffee is prepared over a campfire and served with small sweets made using grapes, a specialty product of Yamanashi. The setup is intended to give guests time to remain in the forest surroundings without a structured activity.

The program also includes the “Moonlight Lounge,” which is available on the full moon and the day before and after each full moon, according to Premium Japan. Guests can spend time around a bonfire, read about the moon, and enjoy a limited-edition cocktail inspired by the lunar setting.

In the morning, the “Fragrant Forest Distillation” experience focuses on the natural scents of the area. Participants extract distilled water from materials found around the northern foothills of Mt. Fuji, including cypress, mugwort flowers and pine cones. The activity provides another way for the resort to connect its programming to locally available natural materials.

Dining is also incorporated into the seasonal offer through the “Mountain Foothills Red Wine Sukiyaki Hot Pot,” served in guests’ cabins. The dish combines Wagyu beef and seasonal vegetables with a sukiyaki sauce based on red wine. The meal is available from 5:50 p.m. to 8:10 p.m. for ¥18,150 per person, including tax and service charges, with reservations available through the resort’s official website until the day before.

For outdoor hospitality operators, Hoshinoya Fuji’s fall programming illustrates how a property can build a seasonal offer around existing natural features rather than relying on a single attraction.

Activities such as guided walks, campfire coffee, nature-based sensory experiences and limited-time dining can create multiple guest touchpoints while giving visitors reasons to engage with the property at different times of day. The approach also shows how local products, landscape features and seasonal changes can be incorporated into a glamping itinerary and dining experience.

The “Autumn Forest Glamping Stay” is available to guests through Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2026. Dates, times and fees vary by experience, and menus and ingredients may change depending on weather conditions and availability. The source material lists the program period as beginning Nov. 11, 2026, although it contains a conflicting reference to 2025 in the detailed date listing.
