The RV Industry Association (RVIA) has added Anthony Hasse as an inspector in its Standards Department, where he will conduct inspections of manufacturer members to monitor compliance with adopted codes and standards for recreational vehicles and Park Model RVs.
The association’s Standards program includes a team of full-time inspectors responsible for promoting safety by monitoring manufacturers’ adherence to standards adopted by the RV Industry Association Board of Directors.
The department conducts more than 2,000 unannounced inspections at member RV manufacturing plants each year.
In addition to inspections, the Standards Department provides educational resources and hands-on training to manufacturer members to support compliance with adopted codes and standards.
Hasse’s role will include traveling to manufacturer facilities and evaluating whether production practices meet those requirements.
“I make sure they’re following codes and standards so that they’re building a safe unit for customers,” Hasse said in a News and Insights report of RVIA.
Hasse brings several decades of RV industry experience to the position. Born and raised in Indiana, he served five years in the Air Force after high school before entering the RV industry around 1996.
“After that, I was trying to decide what I wanted to do with the rest of my life, because my training didn’t apply outside of the military,” he said.
His career has included customer service, warranty, production and engineering roles with various RV manufacturers.
He joined Forest River nearly five years before moving to the association, where he focused on quality.
Hasse said his first inspection trips with the association took him to Nevada and Utah. He previously spent more than a year in Las Vegas while serving in the Air Force.
“I enjoy being in the various manufacturing plants and seeing how they all build their products, as well as meeting new people,” Hasse said. “I also love the travel aspect. The idea of this year’s upcoming travel is pretty exciting.”
Hasse also cited the Standards Department team as a positive part of his transition into the role.
“And the group of people that I’m working with is amazing,” he said. “They’ve been incredibly helpful. Every aspect of this job has been enjoyable!”
His connection to the RV industry extends beyond his professional career. Hasse said his father has worked in the RV sector since age 19, following a family history that includes sales, production and other manufacturing roles.
“My maternal grandfather was one of the leading manufacturers in chassis modifications in the early days,” Hasse said. “He was one of the largest chassis modifiers in the RV industry for quite a long time.”
