RVIA Webinar to Detail New Mexico PFAS Compliance Rules Taking Effect in 2027

The RV Industry Association (RVIA) will host a Sept. 9 webinar focused on how New Mexico’s new PFAS regulations will affect RV manufacturers, suppliers and aftermarket parts ahead of compliance requirements taking effect Jan. 1, 2027.

The webinar, “Navigating New Mexico’s New PFAS Regulations,” is scheduled for 2 p.m. Eastern time and will provide an overview of the state’s PFAS Protection Act (HB 212) final rule and its implications for the RV industry.

While RVs qualify for key vehicle exemptions under the regulations, new labeling and compliance requirements will apply to certain products and components, according to the RVIA. The rules will affect RV manufacturers, suppliers and aftermarket parts beginning Jan. 1, 2027.

The session will examine how motorized and towable RVs are classified under the state’s definitions of “Motor Vehicle” and “Complex Durable Good.” The classifications will be addressed as part of the webinar’s review of the scope of the regulations and applicable exemptions.

Labeling requirements will be another focus, including information that must be included in consumer-facing specification sheets and owner’s manuals before the Jan. 1, 2027, deadline.

The webinar also will address requirements affecting individual components, replacement parts and aftermarket products. Those provisions will be discussed separately from the rules applying to complete RVs.

The webinar also will review state reporting schedules, application fees and penalties associated with noncompliance..

A question-and-answer session will conclude the webinar, allowing participants to raise specific compliance questions with the RVIA experts.

The webinar comes as New Mexico’s PFAS Protection Act final rule has been established and businesses prepare for the new state-level requirements.
