RoverPass has launched an AI chatbot for campgrounds and RV parks that answers guest questions using park-provided information and creates a running task list of questions it could not answer, giving operators a way to identify and fill gaps in their website information.
The RoverPass AI Chatbot is managed through the company’s Owner Portal and can be installed on a park’s website with a single line of code.
Questions are added to the unanswered list when the assistant finds no supporting information, responds without supporting information or receives an unhelpful rating from a guest.
Related unanswered questions are grouped together, and operators can move each item from open to answered. Once an operator provides an answer, that information becomes part of the park’s information and can be used in subsequent chatbot responses.
The system is designed to keep the chatbot’s information current through operator input rather than relying on product updates from the software provider.
“A chatbot that ships knowing everything starts being wrong the day something at the park changes,” Ravi Parikh, CEO and founder of RoverPass, said in a press release.
“We would rather ship one that knows what it does not know and asks the owner. That is the only version of this that is still accurate in its third season,” Parikh added.
The chatbot initially imports a campground’s existing RoverPass data. Operators can then add information in plain language covering categories such as rates, rules, pet policies, check-in procedures and amenities.
Each response identifies whether it was based on information provided by the park and includes a citation to the entry used to generate the answer. When the system cannot provide an answer, operators can configure a fallback message directing guests to contact the park rather than having the chatbot guess.
The platform also provides conversation histories and guest ratings, while operators can restrict the chatbot widget to approved website domains. Each park’s chatbot operates with information and settings specific to that property.
“Most tools tell an operator how they are doing. This one tells them what they never wrote down,” said Angie Tuarez, product leader at RoverPass. “Every entry on that list is a question a real guest asked and the park had no answer for. Working through it is the whole maintenance routine.”
Operators can also configure the chatbot’s response style, appearance and welcome message and test it in a sandbox before deploying it to guests.
