Thousand Islands/Ivy Lea KOA Holiday Boosts Guest Satisfaction Score Under New Owners

Thousand Islands/Ivy Lea KOA Holiday increased its Net Promoter Score from 29.9 to 70 during the first year under owners Shawn and Christine Kim, according to an announcement from Kampgrounds of America (KOA) on June 11.

The increase reflects the Kims’ focus on enhancing the guest experience while positioning the campground for future growth. Net Promoter Score, or NPS, is a measurement used to assess guest satisfaction and loyalty.

The campground is located along the St. Lawrence River in Lansdowne, Ontario, providing access to boating, fishing, hiking and Thousand Islands National Park.

“From the moment we arrived, we felt the potential of this place,” said Shawn Kim, owner of the Thousand Islands/Ivy Lea KOA Holiday. “We’re excited to create a space that feels welcoming for all ages and camping styles, from traditional tent campers to cabin guests. We’ve been truly grateful for the local support and are excited to grow alongside this community.”

The property offers a variety of accommodations, including Deluxe Cabins, RV sites with full hookups and traditional tent sites.

Guest amenities include a large swimming pool, a children’s pool, a hot tub, nature trails, a KampK9 dog park with dog wash facilities, a camp store and themed weekend activities.

The Kims also plan to expand the campground’s offerings through additional cabin accommodations, live music events, seasonal festivals, pickleball and basketball courts, and upgrades focused on technology and environmentally friendly systems.

According to KOA’s annual Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report, campers contributed $66 billion to local economies in 2025, with the average camper spending more than $200 per day while camping.

The report also found that travelers continue to seek local experiences during camping trips. Thirty-three percent of campers surveyed said they were interested in visiting small towns, while 38% said they were drawn to historic sites.

KOA said campgrounds can play an important role in supporting local economies and connecting visitors with regional attractions and communities.

The Thousand Islands/Ivy Lea KOA Holiday is one of more than 500 KOA campgrounds operating across the United States and Canada.

Located at 85 Edgewater Lane in Lansdowne, Ontario, the campground is open for the 2026 season from May 1 through Oct. 12.
