Vilas County (Wisconsin) has unveiled a new campground website designed to centralize information and streamline reservations for outdoor enthusiasts.
The site, accessible at vilascountyrec.com, will serve as the primary portal for camping on the Vilas County Forest and will include a reservation system going live February 2. The initiative aims to simplify access for campers while promoting local recreation opportunities.
The website provides detailed information for multiple county campgrounds, including Torch Lake Campground and RV Park, River Road Equestrian Campground, and Tamarack Springs Campground. Visitors will be able to browse campsite options, check availability, and plan trips through the new CampSpot reservation system.
According to an article published by wxpr on January 4, although the website is currently live, the reservation feature will not be operational until 8 a.m. Central Standard Time on Monday, February 2.
The new reservation system is part of a broader effort to modernize Vilas County’s outdoor facilities and attract a wider range of visitors.
Torch Lake Campground & RV Park offers a wide range of amenities for campers seeking both comfort and convenience. All sites include fire rings and picnic tables, along with Wi-Fi access.
Sites 1 through 20 provide water and electricity, while sites 21 through 41 add sewer hookups for RVs. Guests also have access to a bathroom and shower house with flush toilets, a campfire wood purchase option, and an RV dump station.
River Road Equestrian Campground also caters to equestrian enthusiasts with sites that include picnic tables, highline tie-ups, and corrals.
Specific sites, such as #5 and #8, feature fire rings, while an electric water pump is available for all campers. The campground provides a bathroom facility, a manure bunker, and is pet-friendly, creating a practical and comfortable environment for riders and their animals.
Tamarack Springs Campground and Buckatabon Creek Campground feature additional outdoor options with a focus on traditional camping experiences.
Tamarack Springs provides fire rings with grills, picnic tables, a picnic pavilion, bathroom facilities, and a water pump, all while welcoming pets. Buckatabon Creek features freestanding cooking grills, a fire ring with an attached grill, a picnic table, a small shelter, and a bathroom facility.
