Vauxhall Holiday Park, located on the outskirts of Great Yarmouth, will undergo a redevelopment following approval from Great Yarmouth Borough Council.
The council granted planning permission for the replacement of 35 touring caravan pitches with 31 static caravans, the demolition of an existing toilet and shower block, and the construction of new access roads within the site. The plan also includes the planting of 14 new trees.
Planning officers at the council said the proposal would “provide a high-quality form of tourist accommodation within a designated holiday accommodation area.” The development had received objections from five members of the public, who expressed concerns that the changes would reduce the number of touring caravan pitches available.
The planning approval coincides with Parkdean Resorts’ announcement of a £5 million investment in Vauxhall Holiday Park. The funding is intended to support the construction of a new sports bar, indoor adventure golf, interactive Bear Grylls escape rooms, and expansions of the resort’s indoor and outdoor Tots Zones play areas for toddlers.
Vauxhall Holiday Park has been in operation since 1964. It was managed by the Biss family until its sale to Parkdean Resorts in 2016, according to the Eastern Daily Press.
The current redevelopment plans reflect broader trends in the caravan and holiday park sector, where operators are seeking to diversify accommodation types and enhance on-site leisure offerings to attract a wider range of visitors and extend stays.
