Galley Hill Farm, located near Blakeney in Norfolk, has been ranked among the most affordable campsites in the UK, according to research by outdoor retailer GO Outdoors

The three-night stay rate of £60 placed the family-run site second nationally in a list of the 10 best-value campsites for a low-cost getaway. The top spot went to The Old Stables Campsite in Cornwall.

The GO Outdoors analysis considered factors including average summer temperatures, the availability of on-site shops, visitor recommendations, and the number of outdoor activities within 10 kilometres.

While Galley Hill Farm does not have an on-site shop, it achieved an average rating of 4.87 out of five, with 98 percent of visitors saying they would recommend the site to friends and family.

Pitches remain available through the rest of August, a period often in high demand for UK camping holidays, according to the Eastern Daily Press.

The recognition comes as price-conscious domestic tourism continues to attract travellers seeking budget-friendly stays without compromising on experience.

For business owners in the outdoor hospitality sector, the findings highlight the ongoing appeal of sites that combine affordability with strong guest satisfaction, even without extensive onsite retail facilities.

Galley Hill Farm has been in the Scaman family since the early 1960s. Originally a working farm, it diversified into pick-your-own soft fruit in 1979, an orchard in 1987, and later, a caravan site in 1995.

The business is now operated by Ian and Sandra Scaman, the second generation, with their daughters Emily and Molly representing the third generation involved in its operations.

The farm has expanded its offering to include glamping pods, livestock, and liveries. The glamping pods, set behind the main campsite, each feature a double bed, en-suite wet room, sofa, kitchen-living area, and south-facing decking.

The site’s location at the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides access to both coast and countryside, with opportunities for wildlife spotting and seasonal events such as the farm’s annual Strawberry Fayre.

The farm’s diversification strategy demonstrates how rural businesses can adapt to changing tourism trends by combining traditional agricultural activities with outdoor hospitality.

For operators in the sector, the Galley Hill Farm model illustrates the potential of balancing affordability with value-added features, such as unique accommodations and local attractions, to achieve recognition in a competitive market.
