BLM Prepares for Seasonal Winterization of Wyoming Campground Water Systems

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is preparing for the seasonal winterization of water systems at several campgrounds in Wyoming as autumn approaches. The BLM announced that Fontenelle Creek Campground in Lincoln County, along with Scab Creek and Warren Bridge Campgrounds in Sublette County, will undergo this essential process during the last week of September 2024.

The winterization will render the water systems at these sites inoperative for the remainder of the season. This annual procedure is crucial for protecting the campground infrastructure from harsh Wyoming winter conditions.

“No water will be available at these sites for the remainder of the season, and campers should plan accordingly. Once the water is turned off, no fees will be charged at these campgrounds for the rest of the season,” a press release indicated.

The Fontenelle Creek Campground, nestled in Lincoln County, will remain accessible to visitors as long as the roads leading to it are passable. The boat ramp and lake access at Fontenelle Creek will continue to be available throughout the winter months, offering opportunities for winter recreation enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, Scab Creek and Warren Bridge campgrounds will remain open until the end of October or until the first significant snowfall, whichever occurs first.

According to its website, the Fontenelle Creek Recreation Site is an ideal destination for camping, boating, and fishing enthusiasts. The site is equipped with potable water, a trailer dump station, and two major parking areas for both vehicles and boat trailers near the boat ramp.

Visitors can take advantage of a fully functional boat ramp, boat dock, and handicap-accessible restroom facilities, making it accessible for a variety of visitors. Additionally, there are two handicap-accessible campsites, ensuring inclusivity for all campers.

The campground features a total of 55 campsites, each equipped with covered picnic tables and barbecue grills, offering a comfortable outdoor experience. Gravel pathways lead to restroom facilities, which include two vault and three flush restrooms. The site also boasts convenient amenities such as trash facilities, a fenced-in firewood area, and cement road barriers for safety.
