KCN Campgrounds, a longtime partner of Kampgrounds of America (KOA), has acquired the Door County KOA Holiday, promising upgrades designed to enhance the guest experience while preserving the campground’s legacy as a family favorite.
The acquisition positions KCN, which operates multiple KOA locations, to continue KOA’s high standards for outdoor hospitality in one of Wisconsin’s most visited destinations.
Situated on a wooded peninsula in Door County, the campground provides access to the region’s shoreline, state parks, small towns, and seasonal attractions, including festivals, wineries, and historic lighthouses.
Guests can enjoy a mix of outdoor recreation and cultural experiences during their stay.
According to a press release, Kevin Thueson, CEO of KCN Campgrounds, said, “Door County is a special place, and this campground has long been a favorite for families making lifelong memories together.”
“We’re excited to build on what guests already love about this KOA. By investing thoughtfully in the property, we will elevate the guest experience, continuing to deliver the reliable, welcoming standards that campers expect when they see the KOA sign,” Thueson added.
KOA reports that campers contributed $61 billion to local economies in 2024, with the average camper spending $200 daily while visiting campgrounds.
The company’s Camping and Outdoor Hospitality Report found that 27% of campers are interested in exploring small towns, and another 27% are drawn to food tourism.
The Door County KOA Holiday offers a range of amenities designed for family-friendly “stay-and-play” experiences. Features include multiple swimming pools, a water slide, splash park, mini golf, bike rentals, a game room, fishing, sports courts, themed weekends, EV charging, and KampK9 facilities for dogs.
Full-service RV sites with KOA Patios and Deluxe Cabins with full bathrooms are available.
The campground is one of more than 500 KOA locations in the United States and Canada. Other KOA brands include KOA Journeys, designed for travelers needing convenient overnight stops, and KOA Resorts, offering staff-led activities, on-site dining, and group meeting spaces.
The Door County KOA Holiday is located at 9245 Lovers Lane in Brussels and operates from April 14 through October 31.
