Westmoreland State Park to Host Halloweekend Celebration with Festive Activities

Westmoreland State Park is gearing up for a weekend of Halloween-themed festivities with its annual “Halloweekend” event, scheduled for Oct. 26 from noon to 4 p.m. and Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park’s Discovery Center.

This family-friendly event promises a variety of activities designed to engage visitors of all ages, offering a blend of traditional autumn celebrations and creative holiday fun.

The park’s chief ranger of visitor experience, Shannon Carlin, emphasized the importance of community participation. “Guests can join in the fun by dressing up, carving pumpkins, or participating in one of the programs,” Carlin said.

“We like seeing the public enjoy the park and all the fall festivities at this event. We hope you can come out and make some lasting memories and keepsake crafts at our Halloweekend event,” Carlin added.

Throughout the two-day event, a series of ongoing stations will be set up for guests to enjoy, allowing them to participate in mini golf, face painting, and cornhole activities. Visitors can also try their hand at various classic carnival-style games, including a bean bag toss, potato sack races, and a ring toss.

For those looking to capture the moment, a dedicated photo op area will also be available.

On Saturday, several unique programs will be featured, catering to a range of interests. Craft enthusiasts can participate in the “Beastly Bash Craft,” where they can create Halloween-themed decorations, while others can indulge in pumpkin carving and decorating. Other activities include Creepy Crawlies: Leaf Pack Exploration and Hide and Seek – Halloween Rocks.

Sunday will bring a slightly different lineup of activities, continuing the tradition of pumpkin carving and decorating. One of the day’s highlights is the Shark Tooth Necklace Class, and Bash Craft.

In addition to the weekend-long activities, Westmoreland State Park will host a Trunk or Treat event on Halloween night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The park’s Campground C will be transformed into a festive atmosphere where families can stroll through and enjoy the creative decorations displayed on vehicles.
