Luray RV Resort Announces Expansion

Outlanders River Camp in Luray, Virginia, now renamed Luray RV Resort on Shenandoah River, has announced plans to expand its campgrounds, adding 45 new jobs and new amenities to attract tourists and support the local economy.

The expansion will include a significant increase in the number of campsites, from 73 to 350, as well as the addition of several community-centered amenities:

  • An amphitheater
  • A resort-like pool and cabanas
  • A recreational center with pickleball, basketball, mountain bike track, corn hole, and RC car track

Page County’s local economy will benefit from the creation of 45 new jobs, which will consist of seasonal, entry-level, and managerial positions.

These jobs will serve as a gateway for individuals into the hospitality industry. Tourism is expected to bring over 250,000 people to Luray by the end of 2023, generating more revenue for the local economy and supporting small businesses, including private campground owners and operators in the area.

Kim Rhinehart, general manager of Luray RV Resort on Shenandoah River, said, “The growth at Luray RV Resort on Shenandoah River is going to create a flourishing property for both our visitors and residents of Page County.”

“In addition to the economic growth the expansion will bring, the upgraded amenities are elevating the camping experience to a resort-quality vacation, giving families the best of both worlds and will make them want to return year after year,” Rhinehart added.

The most notable property upgrades are full hookup, back-in RV sites that are ADA accessible, pet-friendly, and equipped with electric service.

The brand-new Airstream rental allows guests to camp in luxury, featuring modern touches such as a kitchenette, full bathroom, and AC, as well as a furnished patio for star-gazing. The property will also offer modern two-bed loft cottages with fully equipped kitchens, private front porches, and fire pits.

Blue Water, the development company operating Luray RV Resort on Shenandoah River, has been creating elite assets that exceed guest expectations since 2008.

Todd Burbage, CEO of Blue Water, says, “We are in the middle of a camping boom, and it is up to property managers to evolve and give campers the new experiences they are looking for.”

He went on to say that, “Through our expansion and upgrades, we are positioning Luray RV Resort on Shenandoah River to be a competitive property that propels it into the modern camping experience while keeping the property’s natural beauty as its leading edge.”

Luray RV Resort offers scenic views of the Shenandoah River and surrounding mountains, providing a picturesque camping experience for visitors.

The property boasts three-quarters of a mile of river frontage, abundant wildlife, and breathtaking scenery. Luray RV Resort on Shenandoah River is set to open to the public on July 5.
