Bryce Canyon National Park Celebrates 100 Years of Natural Beauty

Bryce Canyon National Park is turning 100 this year, and to celebrate this historic milestone, the park is inviting the public to enjoy a year full of special programs and events.

Since its creation as a national monument in 1923 by President Warren G. Harding, Bryce Canyon has become a beloved destination for visitors from around the world, with over two million visitors in 2022.

To commemorate this centennial year, the park has planned a variety of events and activities, from a winter festival to a concert featuring The Piano Guys.

Visitors can also enjoy an astronomy festival, a plein air “Paint Out” with the Escalante Canyons Art Festival, and a heritage days festival.

In addition to these special events, the park will also be sharing its rich history through a historic photo exhibit at Bryce Lodge and by sharing centennial stories on social media.

Visitors are encouraged to share their own experiences of Bryce Canyon by using the hashtag #BRYCE100.

“Bryce Canyon’s centennial year is an opportunity to celebrate not only the rich past but also the present and future of this national park,” said park superintendent Jim Ireland.

“2023 will be a year of celebration, and yet we also want it to be a year of connection between the park and its local communities, affiliated tribes, partners, visitors, and staff.”

For those planning a visit to Bryce Canyon this year, the park encourages visitors to plan ahead by visiting its website at www.nps.gov/brca and downloading the free NPS app before arriving.

With its vibrant limestone hoodoos, fragrant ponderosa forests, and dark night skies, Bryce Canyon is a unique and breathtaking natural wonder. This centennial year is the perfect opportunity to visit, celebrate, and experience all that Bryce Canyon has to offer.
